They are archives. You must use a program to unzip them before you can use them. I recommend 7zip. It's free, user-friendly and not heavy on your computer. http://www.7-zip.org/ (Click on dowload, and chose a .exe file depending on which OS you use (MAC or Windows).
-Then what about those .001/002/... files?
These are partial files. They were splitted into multiple files in order to make so they can be easierly uploaded. You need to download each of them and to unzip them with 7zip, winzip/rar. This will create a single file you can use. As an exemple, if you want to try the Silver Chaos game, that means you're gonna need all the silver chaos -all files files. If may files are labelled with the exact same name + a .000something, you have to download all of these.
(I thought this was obvious, but I realised only 7 people downloaded the 3 Silver Chaos files and 11 downloaded only the first. It makes 4 people who totaly won't be able to do anything with that.
